Jordan Robinson: TAS 4-8 Program Coordinator 208.399.2247
|
Jordan Robinson grew up in Houston, Texas, spending her time eating Mexican food and playing sports. While attending Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, she majored in Biology – falling in love with ecological research and place-based education. She also spent time tutoring and observing in many of Memphis’ charter schools. Those passions drove her to move out west and study for a year in Grand Teton National Park with the Teton Science Schools’ Graduate Program. She got to teach outdoors in an amazing and wild place, with everything from mountain lions to bears to moose around the area frequently. An incredible experience, Jordan left with confidence and skills, as well as a desire to give students the freedom and experiences to find what makes them shine. Jordan is finishing her Masters of Science in Science Education through Montana State University. Outside of school, Jordan loves to play field hockey, soccer, and ski. Embracing western living, she is also learning how to fly-fish and telemark ski. She is also an avid musician, playing guitar and singing any chance she can get. Jordan is beyond excited to join the Teton Afterschool team this year! |

Judy felt very lucky when asked to work with the Recreation component of Teton Afterschool. She loves dancing, playing, and having a good time. She hopes to teach the children a lot of dances this year and how to exercise to keep fit for a lifetime while having fun doing it.

Teton Science Schools Staff
Selena Humphries grew up exploring the waterways and forests of Maine. Before moving to Jackson Hole in 2005, she worked as a naturalist for the Appalachian Mountain Club and a bird bander for Point Reyes Bird Observatory. She has worked for the Teton Science Schools as an instructor, bird bander, and wildlife expeditions guide, and now coordinates our field education programming in Idaho. She lives in Victor and enjoys hiking, fly fishing, gardening, backcountry skiing, and playing with her dogs.
Jessica Vincent is from the small state of Rhode Island where she developed a love for the ocean. She then moved to Burlington, Vermont where she went to college and fell in love with the mountains. She graduated in 2010 with a degree in Environmental Science. She fell into this path because she wanted to find a career outdoors. She worked seasonally at different camps around the New England and discovered that she really enjoyed sharing her passion and knowledge about the outdoor with students of all ages. This realization brought her to the Teton Science School’s Graduate Program where she was able to learn about the world around her while teaching students. This short biography would not be complete if she did not include that snowboarding is her one reason for all of the decisions about where she lives! Fun Fact: I want to travel everywhere in the whole world.

Academic Advisers
Rachel Bates: K-3 Academic Adviser
Hello! My name is Rachel Bates. I consider myself a Teton Valley native even though I grew up in Wyoming. My Great-Grandfather homesteaded here in the 1800’s and I was born here in the shadow of the Tetons. I have seen many changes during that time but Teton Valley is in my blood and I love it here!
I have been a teacher for 25+ years--here, Waianae, Hawaii, F’sted, St. Croix, USVI, and La Mesa, CA. I am excited to work in Teton Afterschool as the Academic Director. I headed the previous program tutoring students K-8. I enjoy helping and teaching.
I graduated from Ricks College (now BYU-I) with an Associate Degree in General Studies; Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science; North West Nazarene University with a Masters of Education in Reading. I also completed the ABCTE program offered by the state of Idaho to commute my Secondary Certificate to an Elementary one. I currently teach Kindergarten at Driggs Elementary.
I love to hike, swim and cross-country ski. I love to sew. I have sewn everything from lingerie, and wedding dresses to down sleeping bags and had my own company designing and making cases for musical instruments. I love art and the beauty of nature. I love trees and birds. I love to travel. On my ‘bucket list’ are the two continents I have yet to visit; Africa and Antarctica.
I love teaching and I love learning. It is a joy to work with children and to help them progress! I look forward to this year together!
